| Susan Gifford Bates, 51, prominent Beacon Hill florist,
frequent judge and two time exhibitor at the Boston Flower Show, died at Boston Hospital
in late December 1996 after a long battle with cancer. Owner and operator of Victorian
Bouquet Ltd., she arranged flowers for the Boston visits of notables such as Prince
Charles and Malcolm Forbes. She also made the laurel wreaths worn by Boston Marathon
winners. She leaves 2 brothers, one is Gordon Gifford '62, and several
nieces and nephews. |
