Class of 1943

Wilson Henry Pratt2.gif (14202 bytes)Wilson Pratt Mr. Wilson Henry "Bill" Pratt, 75, a resident of Pratt Lane, died Wednesday morning, July 15, 1998 at his home. Born in Pownal, Vt. on March 27, l923, he was the son of Philip and Lulu (Rathbun) Pratt. He received his early education in Pownal schools and then graduated from Williamstown (Mass.) High School. He attended Amherst College where be majored in animal husbandry. Mr. Pratt was a World War II Marine veteran who served in the Pacific Theatre where he was wounded in action in the Guadalcanal (he received a Purple Heart). In earlier years while he resided in Pownal, Mr. Pratt was a dairy and turkey farmer and one time had the third largest turkey farm in the Northeast. He eventually went to work for the former Warren Wire in Pownal. Later he was transferred to their facility in Long Island where he remained for a few years. He relocated back to this area and worked for the former Dodge Industries which is now known as Oak Industries. He retired from Oak after more than 25 years with the company. He had maintained his interest in farming throughout his life and had cattle at his farm in South Cambridge. Mr. Pratt was a member of the South Cambridge Methodist Church and enjoyed gardening in his spare time. He is survived by his wife, the former Helen Holland, whom he married Oct. 4, l947 is Danby, Vt.; 3 Sons, Floyd Pratt of Buskirk, N.Y, Wilson P. Pratt of Cambridge, N.Y and Steven Pratt of East Greenwich, N.Y.; 3 daughters, Bonnie Williams of Carbondale, Colo., Andrea Pratt of Shushan, N.Y and Rebecca Yount of Castle Rock, Colo.; 1 brother, Anson Pratt or Pownal and 1 sister, Anne George of Berlin, N.Y.; 9 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Philip Pratt, who died in 1929. Gifts in memory of Mr. Pratt may be made to either the Methodist Church of South Cambridge or the Methodist Church of Pownal through the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, P.O.
