| Peter W. Minkus, 82, of Westfield, died November 12,
1997 at his home. He was a laboratory technician for 27 years at the former Stevens Paper
Mill, a position from which he retired in '80. He was an Army veteran of WWII, serving
with the headquarters company of the 2nd battalion of the 326th Glider Infantry Regiment.
He belonged to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1847. He leaves his wife Ruth, a daughter,
and a granddaughter. |

Nutting Stiles, 81, of Southbury, CT, died March 5, 1997 in Branford. He operated
the family farm while serving as an administrator with the U.S. Department of Agriculture
and the University of Connecticut College of Agriculture. He served as a special agent in
the U.S. Army Counter Intelligence Corps in Germany from '45 to '47. In '48, he began
working for the Farm Sales Department of the Connecticut Light and Power Company, where he
worked until he retired as director in '78. He continued to pursue his interest in
agriculture at his Ragland Farm in Southbury. Besides his wife Betsy, he is survived by a
son and a granddaughter. |
