| Richard A. Robbins, 83, a long time resident of Hollis,
NH died September 15, 1997 in Nashua. He was a landscape architect for 45 years before
retiring in '89. He worked for Frost and Higging Landscape Contractors' for 38 years,
serving as vice president for much of that time, then working until his retirement for
Capizzi and Company in Acton. At that time, he was a resident of Natick and was also
commissioner of Parks and Recreation and commissioner of Public Works. He was appointed by
Governor Volpe to the Natick Redevelopment Authority. Then he served as president of the
MA Arborist Association from '64 to '66. Professionally, he received the Henry David
Thoreau Award for Acoustics, Excellence in Landscaping. He was honored twice at the White
House where he received the Beautification Award, presented once by Lady Bird Johnson and
once by Pat Nixon. He was an Army veteran of WWII and the recipient of a Silver Star and
two Bronze Stars. He is survived by his wife Cynthia, 6 sons, 2 daughters, and 10
grandchildren. |

| Frederick J. Thompkins, 82, a retired Lowell police
captain died November 26, 1997 in Lowell. Upon his return from service in the Army during
WWII, he was appointed to the Lowell police force and rose through the ranks to a
captaincy in '60. At the time of his retirement in '77, he was captain of the Juvenile
Bureau. His wife predeceased him. He is survived by a daughter and a grandson. |
