| Allen S. Harlow, 81, of Middletown, RI, died May 26,
1997. After graduation from Stockbridge, Allen joined his father in business and worked at
the Aquidneck Island Creamery and Harlow's Ice Cream, leaving there in '68 to become a
professional fund raiser for the United Way of Southern New England, a position he held
until '78. He was heavily involved in civic affairs of both the town and the State of
Rhode Island, most notably serving as state senator. He served with the Army in WWII
attaining the rank of major. His wife predeceased him. He is survived by 2 sons, a
daughter, 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. |

| Lawrence W. Huston, 75, of FL, formerly of Florence, MA,
died May 26, 1997 in Decatur, GA. For many years, he was a food inspector for the
Springfield Health Department, retiring in '77. After retiring he lived in FL, AZ, CO, AR
and GA. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of WWII and a member of the Jerusalem Masonic
Lodge. His wife predeceased him. He leaves a son, a daughter, and 4 grandchildren. |

Gordon
H. Shortsleeves, 82, of W. Newfield, ME, died October 19, 1997 of cancer at home
with his family. He worked on a dairy farm before joining the Marine Corps in '42 as a
sergeant in the 1st Marine Corps K-4-11. He served in the Pacific theater and was
discharged in '45. He managed dairy farms in both Southbury, MA, and Glastonbury, CT
before purchasing a dairy farm in Mansfield, MA, which he operated for 20 years. He also
worked at the Foxboro Company and retired in '80. In '88, he moved to ME where he owned
and operated a farm, breeding and raising Guernsey cows. He was a member of both the MA
and the New England Guernsey Associations. He also enjoyed vegetable gardening. He is
survived by his wife Katharine (Tryon), a son, 3 daughters, 9 grandchildren and 3
great-grandchildren. Katherine is sister to Ralph '38 and Charles '43 Tryon. |
