| Charles D. (Charlie) Dolan, 85, of N. Brookfield, died
December 8, 1997 in Worcester. He worked as a steelworker for American Steel and Wire
Company and the U.S. Steel Division for 37 years retiring in '72. During that time he
lived in Auburn and E. Brookfield. After retiring, he worked several years for the E.
Brookfield Public Schools. In '83 he moved to N. Brookfield and established himself as a
gardener and gentleman farmer raising sheep. He often said it took him a long time to get
back to his Stockbridge roots, but he was very happy in this final pursuit. His wife
predeceased him. He leaves his daughter Mary with whom he lived and a stepson Frederic
Hardy of Worcester. |

| Chester E. Goodfield, 83, of Hardwick, died June 2, 1998
in the Quaboag Nursing Home in W. Brookfield. In '36, he moved from New Braintree to
Hardwick where he owned and operated the Guernsey Dell Farm until his retirement in '80.
He was very active in church and civic affairs, serving as moderator and deacon of the
Hardwick Federated Church, director of the Eastern States Exposition, trustee of the
Worcester County 4-H Extension Service, director of the Hardwick Farmers Exchange. He was
also a member of the town's cemetery commission and a director of the Federal Land Bank,
the American Guernsey Association, and Agway. He served on the town's School Committee for
21 years, was chairman of the state Grange Agricultural Services Commission, a director of
the Central Bank of Cooperatives, a member of the Eden Masonic Lodge and served as a
director of the Stockbridge Alumni Association and ATG. His wife predeceased him. He
leaves a son, a daughter, 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. |

| Edson C. MacMullen, 83, of Ashburnham, died November 29,
1997 after a long illness in Gardner. He had been vice president of sales at the H.K.
Webster Company in Lawrence where he retired in '74 after 18 years of service. He was also
a tree farmer and reportedly planted 10,000 trees in Ashburnham. He was a member of both
the MA Forestry and American Forestry Associations. He was a member of the Hope Lodge of
Masons. An avid fisherman and hunter, he was a member of the Fitchburg Sportsman's Club
and the National Rifle Association. He leaves his wife Lillian, a daughter, 3
grandchildren and one great-grandchild. |

| We are sorry to report to alumni the death, on February 12, 1997 of Edward
L. Uhlman, Sr., 82, of Westboro. According to his, now late, friend and
classmate, Chet Goodfield '34, Ed died quietly at home in his sleep. He
was a faithful alumnus and maintained strong ties with the Stockbridge School. Ed owned
and operated the Sunsetview Dairy Farm which his father started in '20. He was past master
of Siloam Lodge of Masons and was honored for being one of the oldest past masters in the
Worcester area. He was a former member of Demolay, belonged to the Westboro Grange,
Westboro Rotary Club, ATG, and was a Paul Harris Fellow. His wife Edith died in '93. He is
survived by a son, a daughter, 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. |
